This project documents Speaker’s Corner in London through photography, focusing on the tension between signal and noise within this public speaking environment. At Speaker’s Corner, books held by speakers act as signal clear, structured sources of information. When in use, they also function as symbols of authority, lending legitimacy and credibility to what is being said. In contrast, the surrounding arguments, interruptions and overlapping voices form noise, where meaning becomes unstable and fragmented. The space becomes a dense information field in which signal and noise continuously interfere with each other. By focusing on this contrast, the project examines how authority, clarity and meaning are constructed and contested within a site of public speech.
